“GAME OF THRONES” ACTRESS LENA HEADEY IS BERMUDA'S LEADING LADY. Many may know Lena Headey for her sinister character in the HBO series “Game of Thrones,” but few may know that the actress was born in Hamilton, Bermuda. Her father, John Headey, a police cadet from Yorkshire, was stationed in Hamilton at the time of her birth. Lena lived near the oceans of Bermuda until the age of five, before moving with her family to England. Her acting career took off with her roles in films like The Summer House and Disney’s The Jungle Book. In 2006, she was cast as Sparta’s Queen Gorgo in the action blockbuster 300 and starred in “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” for its television run from 2008 to 2009. But her career-defining role came in 2011 when she was cast as queen regent Cersei Lannister in “Game of Thrones,” based on George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series of novels. Her performance has earned her three consecutive Emmy award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (2014–16) and a Golden Globe Awards nomination for Best Supporting Actress – Series, Miniseries or Television Film in 2016.
